Beginner A (Mondays 12:45 – 1:45 pm)
Age 7 – 11
Students with little to no experience in French. Limited to no conversational ability.
Our focus will be on basic literacy, vocabulary building and numeracy. We’ll learn through song, games and story time.
Beginner B (Mondays 2:00 – 3:00 pm)
Age 12 +
Students with little to no experience in French. Limited to no conversational ability.
Our focus will be on basic literacy, vocabulary building, numeracy and functional conversation. We’ll learn through games, stories and activities.
Intermediate (Mondays 3:45 – 4:45 pm)
Age 7 +
Students with at least 2 years in French. Basic conversational, reading and writing skills.
Our focus will be on grammatical concepts and phrase building. We’ll learn through stories, activities, creative writing assignments and oral presentations.
Advanced (Mondays 7 – 8 pm)
Age 12+
Advanced and immersion students (5 spots available)
Our focus will be on advanced grammar and sentence structure with additional support in other subjects (math, science, social studies). We’ll learn through reading, research activities, creative writing assignments and oral presentations. Class time will be divided between structured lessons and supported independent study.

All ages welcome
For adults with little to no knowledge of French. Our focus will be conversational skills, phrase building and basic grammar. We’ll learn through guided conversations, reading and writing activities.

Your Teacher:
Classes are taught by Victoria Yeh, graduate of the University of Alberta / Faculté St. Jean Bilingual Bachelor of Commerce program. Victoria holds a E/E/E (highest level) French proficiency designation from the Federal Government of Canada public service and has worked for 16 years in both official languages in the public and private sectors in Ontario and Québec. Her experience also includes working as a bilingual national spokesperson for various brands. Victoria has taught and supported French language students for over a decade.
Class Size and Location:
Minimum enrollment of 5 students per class; maximum 9.
Advanced class will be limited to maximum 5 students.
Early bird deadline August 25th, final registration deadline September 6th.
Classes will be held in-person (as regulations permit) at either the Meaford Library or Meaford Hall. Social distancing and proper face masks required.
Materials:
Registration fees cover all reading materials as well as take-home activities to help reinforce learning between lessons. Students will also be given their own workbooks and their own print copy of Bescherelle (int/adv students only).
Students should bring their own pens / pencil / eraser. Beginners should also bring colouring pencils or markers.
Optional: families may wish to purchase a French-English dictionary (recommended: Larousse French Student Dictionary)
Cancellation Policy:
Students may withdraw before the end of their 3rd class for a 75% refund of tuition fees
Withdrawals after the 3rd class will not be refunded
Students are expected to behave respectfully and not disrupt the class. Disruptive students will be given one written warning. Should disruptive behaviour persist, the instructor may at her sole discretion expel the student from the program. Expulsions are subject to the same refund / cancellation policy outlined above
Covid Policy:
Students and families must complete a covid screening prior to in-person attendance
Students unable to complete the covid screening will be offered a refund for the classes they miss. (I offer this in good faith and ask families to do the same. No refunds if class is missed for other reasons.)
Should public health regulations change, classes will be moved outdoors, if possible. If public health regulations allow only Virtual learning, only the intermediate and advanced classes will continue. Students will be refunded for cancelled classes.
